"So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does." (James 1:19-25)
"But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, 'Do not say in your heart, '''Who will ascend into heaven?'''(that is, to bring Christ down from above) or, '''Who will descend into the abyss?'''(that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? 'The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart' (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:6-10)
"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."(Romans 10:17)
Part of doing the word, after having heard, is to confess it. Confessing the Lord Jesus, in obedience to the word, awakens, reminds, and quickens those who are willing to persevere in His calling. He is our hope and His life our confession: from the new birth through to our bearing our cross, following Him. The word of faith in Christ Jesus!
