How Unprofitable Do You Think You Are?

‘And the Lord said, "If you had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, 'Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea'; and it should obey you." But which of you, having a servant plowing or tending cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, 'Go and sit down to meat?' And will not rather say unto him, 'Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?' Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, 'We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do'.'

A sign of a servant: recognizing his duty without transgression or fruitless offensiveness. Learning how to serve God, in the name of Jesus Christ, knowing what you have from Him has been given by Him. How unprofitable will you let God show you how to be?

Recognize 'This Mountain': Insert Your Name

‘For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto THIS MOUNTAIN, "Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith." Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, is ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.'
(Mark 11:23-26 KJV)

There inevitably are fears, questions, reasonings within we current believers in God that stand out of the way of Christ's testimony being formed in us. Understand this mountain is your confidence in the flesh that resists confidence in Him. As you recognize this, devote to the remedy which Jesus promises will bring fruit to perfection.

The End of Your Faith, from the Beginning

‘Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed at the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now you see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: RECEIVING THE END OF YOUR FAITH, even THE SALVATION OF YOUR SOULS.' (1 Peter 1:1-9 KJV)

If the end of your faith is the salvation of your soul, what is the beginning?

'When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, "Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?" And they said, "Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets." He saith unto them, "But whom say ye that I am?" And Simon Peter answered and said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." And Jesus answered and said unto him, "Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven."(Matthew 16:13-17 KJV)

The beginning of your faith is the revelation to you, from the Father, that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of living God: salvation from the Spirit of God to your spirit, making it alive and ready to continue what Peter witnesses in the epistle that bears his name. As we read/listen to Jesus' words of faith, allow the Father, by His Spirit, to bring us to the end Peter loved, believed, and rejoiced in.

Ask Accordingly

‘From whence come wars and fightings among you? Come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your own lusts.' (James 4:1-3 KJV)

'And this is the confidence that we have in him, that if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.'
(1 John 5:14,15 KJV)

'If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and throw them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.'(John 15:6-8 KJV)

Whatsoever you desire of God will be received through the testimony of His Son. He hears everything, but any withered desire is an answer in itself, being fruitless.

'And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, "Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire." And he said unto them, "What would ye that I should do for you?" They said unto him, "Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory." But Jesus said unto them, "Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" And they said unto him, "We can." And Jesus said unto them, "Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized: But to sit at my right hand an on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared." (Mark 10:35-40 KJV)
